Rename This! v1.0

Rename This!
Introduction:

Rename This! is a practical and intuitive tool, perfect for those who need to rename a large number of files efficiently, without wasting time clicking on them one by one. Understanding that this task can be tedious and time-consuming, this solution offers a compact interface with clear and straightforward options, allowing you to rename your files quickly and effortlessly. With just a few clicks, you can set the desired naming pattern and let the tool handle the heavy lifting.

Inspiration for Creation

The idea for Rename This! came from a personal need. One day, while organizing my hard drive, I came across hundreds of manga pages with completely disorganized names, often with random titles that I had hastily typed myself. The task of renaming each of these pages manually was so daunting that it would have taken an entire day or even longer.

That’s when I decided to use my Python skills to create a personalized solution. Within a few hours, I developed a tool that automatically organized all the files, renaming them uniformly, for example: "page_1", "page_2", "page_318," and so on.

Why Choose Rename This!?

While there are more feature-rich tools available online, the goal of Rename This! is precisely simplicity and speed. There’s no need to waste time on long tutorials or learning how to use complicated functionalities. Here, everything is done in seconds: open the program, click a few times, choose the desired naming pattern, and you're done! Rename This! is always ready to assist, hassle-free.

If you value practicality and efficiency, this tool was made for you. 😊

Important Requeriments!

â–º Antivirus Alert

When installing the program, there is a chance that Windows Defender or your antivirus software might flag it as a "Trojan." This is due to the file manipulation function used during the renaming process. Since this is an open-source program, you can review the entire system on my GitHub repository if you have any concerns.

â–º Proceed with Caution!

Although the program is harmless, it is extremely important to select the correct folder for the modifications. Renaming files in the wrong location may cause issues with certain programs that rely on those files. Additionally, it is highly recommended to create a backup of your original files before running the program. This will ensure that your files are preserved in case of any unforeseen errors.

Step 1: Selecting a Path

The initial screen of Rename This! features only a few buttons, making it easy to understand their functions at a glance. Even so, I’ll walk you through the steps to ensure your success.

The first thing to do when the program opens is to specify the folder containing the files you want to rename. You can either type the path manually or click on Search to locate it. Remember, the program will rename all the files in the selected folder. If you want to keep the name of any specific file, it’s recommended to move it to a different location beforehand. (And don’t forget to backup the original files in case of errors.)

Let’s use a folder filled with randomly named files as an example. After clicking Search, locate this folder on your computer. Once selected, the path will appear in the input box of the tool.

Note: The path shown in the image below is just an example. The actual path will vary depending on the location of the folder on your own machine.

Step 2: Setting the "name" and "type"

The second input box allows you to specify the Name for your files. You can choose any name you like or even leave it blank. In this example, we’ll use "doc" as the file name.

Next, you’ll need to select the Type, which determines how each file will be uniquely identified. There are three options available:

  • 123: Files will be renamed using numerical sequencing.
    (ex: doc_1, doc_2, doc_3...)

  • abc: Files will be renamed alphabetically.
    (ex: doc_A, doc_B, doc_C...)

  • data: Files will be renamed based on their date and time of modification, keeping the chosen "doc" as the base name.
    (ex: doc_05-12-2024_02-18-58_1)

After configuring everything, simply click on Rename and wait for the process to finish. The time required will depend on the number of files being processed.

If you followed all the steps correctly, the result should look like this: the program renamed the files according to your chosen configuration almost instantly, without the need to do it manually.

It might seem like a simple task, but imagine doing this for thousands of files! That’s one of the reasons why Rename This! is designed to be lightweight—specifically to maximize the speed and practicality of a task that could otherwise be a major headache for some users.

And with that, we conclude this brief tutorial. I hope this tool proves useful to you in some way.

See you next time! 😊

Final Considerations:

I’m disappointed in you, Senpai!!!

You’re using Rename This! completely for free, and you haven’t even shared it with your friends??? You didn’t subscribe to Cleitinho’s channel??? You haven’t even checked out his Patreon???

Look at him!!! A poor programmer who’s selling his lunch to buy dinner, and yet he still keeps smiling!!! So, if possible, stop buying Hentai games on Steam and help us with a few cents! That way, Cleitinho can keep developing more tools to make everyone’s life easier and won’t starve to death, okay? Baaaaaaka! :3
