Easy Game Translator is a simple software designed to translate various games in real time.
I created this program after facing some difficulties while playing a visual novel I had been eagerly waiting for. My expectations for its release were high, and, as expected, it wasn't translated into my native language. This left me quite frustrated because, beyond the excitement, I genuinely wanted to fully enjoy the story and its characters.
During my gaming sessions, I constantly found myself relying on online translators to understand what was happening. With every dialogue and interaction, it was a tedious process to copy the text, paste it into a translator, and then return to the game, completely breaking the immersion and flow of the experience. My English skills, although reasonable, weren't enough to let me enjoy the narrative the way I wanted. This frustration motivated me to look for a more practical and efficient solution.
With this in mind, I decided to use my programming skills, especially in Python, to create a program that would automate this translation process. My goal was to develop a simple tool that could make life easier for players who, like me, wanted to enjoy games that aren't available in their native language.
I started the project by researching and learning about the available libraries that could help me capture on-screen text and translate it in real time. The programming experience was incredibly rewarding, and throughout development, I realized that the final result exceeded my initial expectations. The program not only saves time but also makes the gaming experience much more enjoyable, allowing users to focus on the story and gameplay without the frequent interruptions caused by manual translation.
By the end of the process, I was pleased to have created something that not only solves a personal problem but can also benefit other players in the same situation. It's rewarding to know that technology can be used creatively to improve our entertainment experiences, and I hope Easy Game Translator helps many people get more out of their favorite games.
